Casting Multiples

Old shoe forms make paper footprints.

footstool with plastic bag cover

I painted the base of an old brown footstool and re-covered the top cushion with my eco-friendly cover crocheted from plastic bags and stretched over a piece of foam.  A chic addition to any trendy home!!!

Final Project 3D Arts

After looking at the cutouts that Matisse created later in his life, I was inspired by his ideas.  He said, "I am increasingly convinced that everything one wants to express as a painter or as a draughtsman can be expressed simply by making cutouts."  Following this idea of conveying an idea through simple shapes, I am going to cut out cloth instead of paper.  I've decided to use a bird, the cardinal, as the basic shape and theme of the project.  I will stuff bird shapes to make them 3-dimensional and either suspend or install them in a simple landscape.

wire sculpture Carola

This sculpture is inspired by my daughter's tennis trophy.  I was influenced by the wire sculptures of Alexander Calder and wanted to keep it simple but convey movement.

wonky pot Carola

After much deliberation, I decided to make this wonky pot instead of a picture frame.  I was happy with the result and am wondering whether to glaze or paint it.  Any suggestions?

Carola frame

I want to make a mirror frame out of coiled clay.  Using possibly three coils around the frame, the innermost coil will be recessed to hold a mirror.  Dimensions will be about 10" x 12" with added coil decor as inspiration dictates.  I will probably use an earthy glaze like terra cotta.
